Oven-Fed 2D Magneto-Optical TrapOven 2D-MOT
Yb / Sr / K / Ca cold-atom beam source · dual atom ovens · dual species
A 2D magneto-optical trap cold-atom beam source for metal species that need thermal evaporation. Two built-in LinQ atom ovens (thermal atomic sources) can each be loaded with a different metal — ytterbium (Yb), strontium (Sr), potassium (K), calcium (Ca) and others — and feed them straight into the 2D MOT for cooling and collimation, producing a high-flux cold-atom beam of one species or two. Cooling light enters through fibre couplers and the optics are factory pre-aligned — connect the lasers and it runs. With an integrated heat-sinking housing in a compact package, it is the ideal cold-atom front end for Yb/Sr optical clocks, alkaline-earth quantum computing and cold-atom precision measurement. It is also the cold-atom source of the Oven Double-MOT System.
Key Advantages
Turns metals that need thermal evaporation straight into a usable cold-atom beam.
Dual Ovens · Dual Species
Two built-in LinQ atom ovens, independently temperature-controlled, can hold two different metals for single- or dual-species cold-atom beams — covering Yb, Sr, K, Ca and other species beyond rubidium and caesium.
High-Flux Cold-Atom Beam
The thermal beam is transversely cooled and collimated in the 2D MOT, delivering a slow, high-flux cold-atom beam to load a downstream 3D MOT or science chamber.
Fibre-Coupled · Pre-Aligned
Cooling light enters through fibre couplers; the optics are pre-aligned and fixed at the factory — no alignment on site, just connect the lasers.
Integrated Heat Sinking
A finned, heat-sinking housing keeps the optics and structure thermally stable while the oven runs hot.
Compact Integration
Atom oven, 2D MOT and vacuum interface in one compact unit that connects easily to an existing vacuum system.
In-House Atom Source
The atom oven is made by LinQ, giving dependable supply and flexibility on metals, flux and customization.
